Work-life Balance

I was advised on aspects of work-life balance which I assume many people in Singapore will probably never hear from their supervisors.

"Do not work at night - you probably wouldn't be as efficient as you are if you had a good night's rest. Anyways, you might not even be able to reach the people you need to get in touch with."

"Do not turn on your work laptop at home tonight. There isn't anything that urgent that can't wait until tomorrow."

I feel so fortunate.

Calgary Stampede

The Calgary Stampede is a yearly event where the cowboy culture is embraced for 10 days in Calgary. It's such a huge event into it's 98th year*, that the company HQ is closed on the opening day, and it's a tradition that every team in the company would have a Stampede event. My team's Stampede event is to head down to Calgary Stampede grounds for the rodeos! These people sure do know their stuff.

If anyone is unsure of when to visit Calgary, Stampede season is a great time - though the whole city is filled with people from outside Calgary, and is sooo crowded (albeit not as bad as Singapore).

* When it's the 100th year, it's going to be insane!

BR&

I went to this dope steakhouse for dinner today. It used to be a bank until the 60s, then became a night club, a restaurant, and now a steak house! Also, the washrooms used to be safe deposit box rooms, and it's so cool!
This is the interior of the restaurant - so much space. I should have taken a photo of the washrooms though. Check it out at http://www.brandsteak.com/homepage.htm and yes, it's called BR&.

Work

The past two weeks have been intense - I was given so big a work responsibility over a short period of time that I didn't know what to expect.

Well, I actually knew what was coming, but I did not anticipate everything to go so wrong at the same time. It was almost like the stars aligned to my disadvantage all at the same time.

I am now on call, ready to act and fight fire whenever something goes wrong. I think my team and I have implemented all precautionary measures. I just want the weekends to pass by peacefully so I can recuperate.

Don't get me wrong, I still love my job.
